4-H Youth Ambassador Program

To apply, please fill out the Ambassador Application (in typed form) and submit it to the Hill County Extension Office by Thursday, September 1, 2022 by 5:00 p.m.  No late applications will be accepted.

Montana 4-H Ambassadors are official envoys, representative spokespersons of the Montana 4-H Program. A 4-H Ambassador is a self-motivated, enthusiastic leader who promotes the 4-H program to fellow members, area residents, community leaders, elected officials and other youth. A 4-H Ambassador serves to strengthen the 4-H program through public relations.

Possible duties of a Montana 4-H Ambassador may include:

  • Attend ambassador orientation sessions
  • Serve as a 4-H representative to other organizations
  • 4-H promotion through mass media and speaking obligations
  • Serve as a coordinator or MC for 4-H activities/events
  • Recruit new members and help organize new clubs
  • and most of all... Make new friends and have fun!

Qualifications for Montana 4-H Ambassador:

  • Must be at least 14 years of age by October 1 of current year
  • Must have been enrolled in 4-H at least 2 years and must be enrolled in the current 4-H year
  • Must have been a Junior Leader or Club Officer
  • Must have an enthusiastic desire to serve and accept the responsibilities outlines in the Consitution and Handbook
  • Must submit to the selection process
  • Must be responsible and have time available to fulfill the role of a Montana 4-H ambassador
  • Must be willing to travel, attend training sessions, and serve in the ambassador role when asked
  • Must have a minimum overall high school GPA of 2.5
  • Must be enrolled in the Montana Leadership Project

Ambassador Leadership Opportunities at the State Level

Five state officers are elected to lead the Montana Ambassadors each year. They are joined by two adult volunteer advisors and the 4-H Volunteer and Leadership Development Specialist to comprise the State Ambassador Officer Team. The State Ambassador Officer Team represents the ambassadors and Montana 4-H youth at various events and activities across the state. They plan, implement and evaluate Ambassador Fall Training and serve on the planning committee for Montana 4-H Congress.
