Backyards of Broadwater
Backyards of Broadwater is a self-guided yard and garden tour organized by Broadwater County Master Gardeners and the Extension Office. It highlights community members with unique and innovative landscapes and provides an opportunity to network with others and share the lessons learned along the way.
The first Backyards of Broadwater Tour debuted in August 2014, organized by the Townsend Heritage Gardens. After a brief hiatus, it's back with fresh ideas, new gardens and old favorites. The next tour is July 29, 2017 from 10:00-3:00.
Where can I buy tickets?
Tickets will go on sale on July 1 at Goose Bay Glass in Townsend, Chadwicks Nursery in Helena and at the Extension Office. Tickets are $5/person with kids 12 and under free. When you purchase your tickets, you will receive a map and details for the tour. Simply enjoy the tour at your own pace.
Besides following along, is there anything for my kids to do?
New this year, we are including a scavenger hunt for kids in the tour. When you pick up your tickets and map, you will receive instructions for the game and clues are hidden at each garden location. Turn completed scavenger hunts at the designated location and they will be entered into a prize drawing for a children's gardening basket!
Is there any other special activities that I should know about?
Our event is planned for the same weekend as the Radersburg Sesquicentennial Event. We will be highlighting gardens and events in the historic Radersburg area. Find more information here.
Where do the proceeds of the event go?
Proceeds will be split and benefit local gardening groups including Townsend Heritage Gardens, Townsend Garden Club and Study and Wyse Acres at the School.
How do I participate as a garden location on the tour?
Contact Dawn Reynolds at 406-266-1045. We are always on the lookout for innovative gardens to add to the event. It doesn't matter the size, content or your experience level. We can always learn from each other!
