MSU Extension Annual Report 2006

WHAT DOES IN MEAN TO THRIVE?

It's more than just getting by. It's growing stronger -- making progress.

Annual Report CoverThriving plants put down roots and use the resources available for healthy growth. People aren't much different. To thrive in a sparsely populated state with a challenging climate, daunting distances and some harsh economic realities, Montanans have always been resourceful in making the most of what's available. But resources in our state have never been overabundant.

MSU Extension's statewide outreach education network responds quickly to emerging needs and strengthens existing resources through partnerships. Our roots in communities help us understand local needs and put university expertise and connections where they can make a difference — both in people’s lives and in their livelihoods.

Whether that means providing support for Alzheimer's caregivers in remote areas, helping parents teach their kids to save, showing property owners how to revegetate scorched lands, offering valuable information on food and health, helping small towns lay foundations for economic growth, or applying the latest research and technology to help ag producers compete, Extension has a single, unwavering goal — helping Montanans thrive.

This report offers a look at how MSU Extension is applying university resources throughout the state to address needs as they are identified locally, and how Extension partners with other agencies and groups to make each dollar go further. Access to unbiased, research-based information is a wellspring of strength, health and prosperity to which all Montanans are invited to help themselves.

That’s what we call learning in progress. Read More (PDF 2.97MB)
